July 14, 2025
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bob Baker, our beloved dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, and friend. Dad passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 14, 2025, at the age of 79 years, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Just 41 days after his diagnosis, he left us with the same quiet strength and dignity with which he lived his life.
Born on May 16, 1946, Dad spent his entire life farming the land his father started. Dedicating himself to the family farm, he had a deep love for the land and especially enjoyed crop inspecting and catching up with his friends and neighbours over a cup of coffee or a great game of cards. Robert is remembered for his humble nature, his tireless work ethic, spirit of community and the genuine kindness he extended to everyone he met. He was a respected and loved part of his community.
In 1975 he met Eleanore (Miss Ellie), the love of his life. Together they spent their winters in Mission, Texas and summers at the campground, enjoyed playing cards and farmed actively together.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Eleanore of 44 years; parents Leonard and Florence Baker; sister/brother-in-law Helen and Cec Coupal; brother-in-law Edward Leier; parents-in-law Ed and Ruby Sitar; brother-in-law Derek Sitar; and Auntie Joan Sitar.
He is lovingly remembered by his three children Sheryl, Dion (Kim), and Donnie; seven grandchildren Cole (Kari), Codie-Lynn (Justin), Cora-Lea (Dylan), Carter (Jayci), Andrew, Brooklynn, and Brielle; five great-grandchildren Cooper, Keston, Audrey-Lynn, Blaine and Callie-Jo. Bob is also survived by his sister Jean Leier; brother-in-law Dave Sitar; several nephews; and his favorite pet Jack, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Robert will be dearly missed by all who knew him – his family, his friends, and the many people who came to know him through his years on the farm and in his community. His legacy lives on in his children, in the fields he cared for, and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral Mass to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Sedley, Saskatchewan. Interment will follow in Sedley Roman Catholic Cemetery, Sedley, Saskatchewan.
Forever in our hearts.
