Voss, Richard Lawrence

March 21, 2023

Richard Lawrence Voss

We are sad to announce the passing of Richard L. Voss.

Richard passed away suddenly on March 21, 2023 at the age of 61. He was predeceased by his father Andrew. He is survived by his mother Lillian Voss, brother David (Annette) and their children Adam (Paige), Melissa and grandchildren Reese, West, and Macey; sister Loretta (Blair) and their children Candice (Aaron), Bradley, and grandchildren Bryden, Addison, Carter; brother Gregory (Donna) and their children Carmen (Ryan), Samantha (Andrew) and granddaughter Hattie.

Richard was born on March 8, 1962 in Cupar, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Regina in 1965 where he attended St. Philip Elementary and O’Neill High Schools. After high school Richard worked for many years at Ipsco as a crane operator, and later at 3D Delivery and Freshco. Richard had many interests and hobbies; he loved riding motorcycles and bicycles. He enjoyed traveling and making many trips to Cuba and Mexico. Richard made many friends along the way and always had time to tell a joke and have a drink. He enjoyed socializing and being with people. He had a big heart and was kind and generous, especially with kids. He loved to play with them and often bought them candy and gifts.

Over the years his passion for cooking developed and he became quite an accomplished home cook. He loved to get together and make big batches of cabbage rolls, brining turkeys and making soups. He always said if he won the lottery he would go to culinary school to be a chef. Richard also enjoyed going out to restaurants, one of his favorites lately was Regent Park Pizza where he could be seen enjoying fish & chips, pizzas and their homemade soups.

Richard was a lover of animals, especially his dog Caley, whom he cherished for the last 13 years. Caley adored Richard and always knew when he would be getting home from work and waited at the window for him to pull up in his truck. Sadly Caley passed away last year in September.

As we look back on Richard’s life, we will always remember the good times, and a person who lived life the way he wanted to. He was loved, and loved being with people, and we will miss his energy, wit and charm. Richard will be missed by all that knew him. Peace be with you.

Richard would not have wanted a formal funeral, therefore a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Richard’s family encourages anyone wanting to provide a memorial donation to please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Regina Humane Society.
