December 26, 2024

Peter Horbal

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Horbal, age 87, late of Regina, Saskatchewan on December 26, 2024.

Peter was born April 11, 1937 on the family farm near Weirdale, Saskatchewan to Michael and Mary Horbal (Chamulak). He was the seventh of nine children in his family.

In his youth, Dad was an avid curler and also played hockey for the Prince Albert Mintos. He moved to Regina in the late 50’s where he met the love of his life Deanna Dickey when she was renting a room in his sister’s house. They met when Dad went in the wrong house door and ran into her. They married on September 3, 1960.

Dad began working in Regina at the 7-Up bottling factory and then went to work at the Interprovincial Pipe and Steel Corporation (IPSCO). At IPSCO, Dad was a millwright and a certified EMT. He worked there for 30 years until his retirement in 1997. When Dad wasn’t working, you could find him fishing near his cottage on Last Mountain Lake, or hunting in various spots across the province. Dad enjoyed watching us play hockey. Dad and Mom also travelled to Hawaii numerous times to watch the annual Pro-Bowl.

He was predeceased by his brothers Steve, Jack, Walter, Morris and his sisters Annie, Stephanie, Mary and survived by his sister Rose Williams of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Deanna; his children Scott (Donean) and Dean (Amanda). He is also survived by three grandchildren Nicholas, Eric, and Sadie Horbal, all of Regina.

A Private Graveside Service will be held.
