June 1, 2023
The family of Patricia Mary Carlson is profoundly sad to announce the passing of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and dog mom. Pat took her final breath on her 73rd birthday, June 1, 2023.
Pat was born and raised in Regina, SK and in spite of a busy 45-year career at The Regina Leader Post, her family was her first priority. She always found time when anyone in her family needed her and doted on her five granddaughters. She also managed to pursue her love of bridge at the Regina Duplicate Bridge Club. Many of the people she met over the years remained her friends for the rest of her life.
Pat was predeceased by her parents LeRoy and Dorothy Landru; sister Deb Coles; niece Carmen Tratch; grandparents Fred and Emma Messner and Harris and Georgia Landru; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pat will be deeply missed by her family her husband Ray; daughter Michelle (Sean) Mahan (granddaughters Sophie and Madeleine) and son Christopher Sawatsky (granddaughters Jadyn, Quinn and Andie); nephew Jesse Tratch; and her much-loved fur baby Maggie.
A Private Family Gathering will be held at a later date. Special thanks is extended to the ALS Society, Home Care and the MAID program.

My sincere condolences to Ray and the family. We shared many years together in our blended family support group and as others have said, Pat’s sense of humour was epic.

Pat and I solved a lot of the world's problems -- not to mention the newspaper industry's problems -- over the planter between the Weekender desk and the sports department. Will always remember her passion. Condolences to Ray and family and friends.

Pat was a force to be reckoned with. She was courageous and had the moxie to march to her own drum beat. She also had a wicked sense of humour. As a friend and colleague I truly appreciated her support and mentorship at the LP. Shelley and Chris remember her greatest legacy is the values, compassion and sense of humour she instilled in you that you will pass down to your children as you share your loving memory of your mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you Ray and family.
