Nettie Folk (nee Boczulak) passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Nettie was predeceased by her husband Carl; son Gregg; her parents Anna and Onufry; in-laws Teresa and Jonas; her brother Mike; and numerous brothers-in law and sisters-in-law.
Nettie is survived by her daughters Nancy (Steve), Valri (Amar) and Teraci (Garry); son Jason (Taeko); her sister-in-law Lynn; grandchildren Jana, Anastasia, Meritt, Amber, Beth and Luther; as well as 8 great-grandchildren.
Nettie was born on June 28, 1933 at home, on the farm, near Jasmine, Saskatchewan. She went to grade school in both New Haven and Kelliher, Saskatchewan. When Nettie was 17 she left the farm and moved to Kingston, Ontario where she worked at Weston Bakery.
In 1953 Nettie returned to Saskatchewan and became a switchboard/telephone operator for the first time in Goodeve, Saskatchewan. In 1955 she moved to Regina. Once again, she worked as a telephone operator, for SaskTel. In August of that year she met Carl on a blind date. One year later, on August 4, 1956 Carl and Nettie were married.
Nettie was a homemaker, she cooked us meals from scratch and was forever found in her sewing room mending or creating; she was an avid gardener, she believed in all things natural and organic; she was a devoted Catholic, she was a member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) for over 30 years and she was a gambler, first it was bingo and then it was the penny slot machines at the casino - her motto was “First we pray, then we play”.
Nettie loved to travel. As well as numerous cruises, Carl and Nettie ventured to Las Vegas, Hawaii, Mexico many times, and across Canada to visit family and friends.
Nettie was a 20 plus years cancer survivor and often participated in the yearly Relay for Life event. In her later years Nettie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to visit and could talk for hours on the phone.
She will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Regina General Hospital Emergency and Coronary Care Unit for their kind and gentle treatment of our mother. A special thank you goes to Marian Grady, at Holy Child Parish, for her friendship, unending support and hard work to make this funeral happen.

Unfortunately I will not be able to be at the funeral. It was sad to hear of Nettie's passing as much as it was when Carl passed away earlier. I was part of a seniors luncheon group that met every month at the Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre sharing food and conversation for years. It was always fun times and she and Carl will be sincerely missed. All the best to her family in this sad times.
We are always available and on call 24/7.
