June 4, 2025
With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Natalie “Nat” Senyk, at Selo Gardens Personal Care Home on June 4, 2025. She was in her 97th year.
She was predeceased by her parents Wasyl and Lena Senyk; her brothers Myron, Wally and Gene; her sisters-in-law Doreen and Helen; and a grand-nephew Eric Gamborg.
Nat is lovingly remembered by her son Doug (Barb); granddaughters Shannon (Owen), Alison and Jillian (Sam); great-grandsons Charlie and Teddy. She also leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her brother Stephen (Sandra), who have shared a loving presence throughout her life and most especially during her later years.
Nat was a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews Reg (Karen), Joyce (Brian), Norma (John), David (Wendy), Jim (Marilyn), Trevor, Greg (Trina), Pam (Floyd), Elena (Rob), Larissa (John), Alycia (Taras) and great-nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Melville, SK., Nat grew up during the Great Depression. Although financial resources were limited, she found ways to have fun, whether it was golf, curling, tennis, bowling or playing the mandolin with her youth group. Nat had a special talent for petit point and knitting; these works of art are her gifts to family and a donation of her beloved Poppies hangs at Selo Gardens. Nat was known for her extraordinary culinary skills and she generously entertained family and friends to share food prepared with joy and presented with flair.
Nat’s career as a dental hygienist first began in Melville, and then moved to Regina in 1970. This led to a long lasting and fulfilling career starting with Dr. Fred Wihak, then Drs. Gattinger, Karasin and Thomas. She added the role of Office Manager to this group until her retirement in 1996. Nat was recognized by the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan with the Penny Waite Award for “representing your profession and your office in the highest ethical and courteous manner, and thus you have earned the respect of your patients, your co-workers, your friends. Besides, who can make birthday cakes like you.”
She dedicated much energy to support the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Melville and took pride in being a founding member of the Melville Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada. When she moved to Regina, Nat found further opportunities to expand her volunteer service, both within Selo Gardens and with the Ukrainian Women’s Association. She was an extraordinary fundraiser and was recognized as an Honorary Member of the UOMA/TYC (The Men’s Group) for outstanding support achieved with her ticket sales.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care she received from the care team at Selo Gardens Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honour Natalie’s memory to consider a donation to SGPCH in care of The Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Church or the Mohyla Institute in Saskatoon in her name.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June, 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1305 - 12th Avenue, Regina, SK.

Allan and I were pleased to attend Natalie's funeral today on behalf of the extended Wihak family, and to honour the Senyk family. The beautiful singing and the many prayers were a fitting and dignified celebration of Natalie's full and generous life. The Senyk family members gave eloquent tribute to Natalie, expressing much love, affection and appreciation for Nat's role in their lives, as well as sharing interesting glimpses into the many facets of her life. She was an exceptional woman who lived her life so well.

We send our condolences to you Steve & Sandra and all the family on the loss of Nat.
On our 1st trip to Canada I remember Nat showing Kerry & David how to brush their teeth....they were about 7 and 5 at the time and were excited when Nat gave them each a tooth brush.
I was more interested in her baking and came home with one of her recipes for zucchini slice which was a favourite for a long time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.
Love from your Australian family.

Doug, Barb and family, we are truly saddened by your loss. Nat was a wonderful lady, full of energy, character and motherly love. Your house was always open and welcoming whether we were there to pick you up for baseball, hockey or just to cut the massive lawn you had. With Nat and Grandma Senyk we always new that just stopping over for a visit followed with coffee, tea, buns, cakes and cookies. We never left without her warm welcome and heartfelt smile. She will be thoroughly missed. Our deepest sympathies to you, Barb and the entire Senyk family.
