Maxwell Haines Preikschat

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maxwell Haines Preikschat on April 16, 2026. Max was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on May 27, 1938 to Henry and Sophie Preikschat. He was an only child, but never a lonely one.

Max was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Carolyn; his daughter Sandra and his son-in-law Erwin. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Doug and Simone and his grandkids Virginia (Josh), Hannah, and Simon.

Dad spent decades of his adult life working in the family business, the Regina Book Exchange. While he had many hobbies over the years, his passion for working on old cars and trucks was a constant from his mid-teens to his last days. In speaking of his life, Max often said, “I don’t have many regrets. I got done most of the stuff I wanted to do and I enjoyed doing it.” He was able to stay in his home till the last day when the end came fast and peaceful.

As per his wishes, he has been cremated and there will be no funeral or ceremony, “no fuss.”

Farewell my friend and happy travels as you begin your new life in eternity. Max was one of the founders of the Collectors Car Club of Saskatchewan in 1984 and the second President of the car club. Take care and God Bless.

My condolences to your family on the loss of your dad and grandpa. Regina Book Exchange was my happy place for many years. It never failed to awe me, the sheer quantity of books and how he knew where to find a 'single one' I was looking for. He was amazing.
