With great sadness we announce the passing of Marjorie Ann (Marj) Hnetka (nee Wrobel). Marj was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on July 18, 1930, the daughter of Muriel Stapleton and Fred Wrobel. She attended elementary schools in the neighbourhoods in which she grew up and went on to attend Balfour Tech.
Marj married Lawrence (Larry) Kratt and together they had three children Laurie, Larry and Frank. Like most women of that era, Marj was a stay-at-home mom, attending to her family and the vast array of pets that were always present in the home. Her love of animals and the natural world continued and throughout her life she could be found outdoors tending to flowers and gardens and leaving food for the ducks, geese, songbirds, squirrels and any other animals in the area.
After the passing of husband Larry, Marj married Leo Hnetka and moved to Langley, British Columbia. With Leo’s later passing she returned to Regina and, after time in her house and then an apartment, she spent her final days at Selo Gardens Personal Care Home.
Predeceased by her parents and siblings Beatrice, Ray and Roy. Marj leaves to mourn her daughter Laurie (Don Fabrick) with granddaughters Deanne, Linda and Marina and great-grandchildren Corbin, Hanna, Sam and Joseph; son Larry (Kathy Moran) with grandsons Daniel and David and great-grandchildren Lincoln, Sullivan and Kaylani; and son Frank (Sandra Martin) with grandson Aaron and granddaughter Cheryl and great-grandchildren Evelyn, Adrienne and Charlie. Also mourning Marj are friends and other relatives, including members of the extended Wrobel and Hnetka families.
Special thanks to Pat Wilson and Roberta and Don Stockan and the staff at Selo Gardens for looking after Marj in her final months.
A Private Family Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.

Laurie, Frank, Larry and the entire family your Mother was a very much loved Aunt to our family. She was always so joyful and a good conversationalist. She always chatted about her grandchildren and treated our children with much care and love too. She was always making something, like slippers at Christmas or helping to make perogies. She was so good to our mother (Lillian). Aunt Marj will be missed and our hearts go out to you as it is hard to lose your mother no matter your age. Thinking of you!
