Yanick, Marilynn Marie

March 28, 2026

Marilynn Marie Yanick

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marilynn Marie Yanick on March 28, 2026, after a short but very courageous battle with cancer. Born to Charles W. and Elsie Dunn in Sudbury, Ontario, Marilynn lived a life defined by strength, kindness, and a deep love for her family and friends. Her radiant smile, like a ray of sunshine, was the trademark of her personality.

Marilynn spent her early years in Moose Jaw and Regina, Saskatchewan and fondly recalled her work with S.G.I. and at Kalium Chemicals before relocating the family to Carlyle, Saskatchewan in 1986. There, she worked in retail at King’s Dept. Store and later Ron’s Workwear. She built many close friendships, took up curling, enjoyed golfing at White Bear Golf Course, and generously volunteered her time. The family returned to Regina in 2003.

She will be remembered as a devoted mother, a kind and generous soul, and someone who made everyone feel welcome. We were truly blessed to have Mom. She encouraged her family to always do their best and made personal sacrifices so they could achieve their goals.

Marilynn’s love of travel with Tony, the love of her life, led to many wonderful adventures and meeting new friends. She especially cherished winters spent golfing in Arizona and their getaways to Mexico. An avid golfer, Marilynn was a ladies’ club member at Tor Hill and Murray Golf Course, where she enjoyed the camaraderie of her golfing partners. She loved participating in tournaments, and a highlight of her golfing years was on August 3, 2023, when she scored her first hole-in-one.

Marilynn had a gift for bringing people together. She was a loyal Riders’ fan and thrived on hosting lively gatherings alongside her sister-in-law Sonia, and sharing her incredible cooking with others. No one ever left her home hungry- her perogies and cabbage rolls were truly to “die for”. These moments created lasting memories that will be cherished forever.

She also had a special connection with animals; dogs and cats alike seemed naturally drawn to her, as if they instinctively knew, “we’ve got this one right where we want her.” Sun, warmth, family, and golf were her greatest joys.

She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Tony; her children Teresa (Greg) Trytten, Tammy Flynn, and Tobi Lynne (Kyle) Fowler; her cherished grandchildren Chad, Kitrina, and Caitlyn Trytten; Chance, Shylo, and Charlie Flynn; and her great-granddaughter Peyton. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister Shirley Maertens, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Marilynn was predeceased by her parents Charles and Elsie Dunn; her brother Lloyd Dunn; her son Brent; and many other extended family members.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nursing staff at Regina General Hospital on Units 5E and 6F, as well as to Dr. Dostaus, for their exceptional care and support.

In keeping with Marilynn’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Saskatchewan Lung Association, Heart and Stroke, or the Regina Humane Society.
