Waugh (nee Lawrence), Marilyn

February 26, 2025

Marilyn Waugh (nee Lawrence)

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marilyn (nee Lawrence) Waugh, who left us peacefully on February 26, 2025 at the age of 74.

Marilyn was born on May 6, 1950 in Lampman, Saskatchewan and spent her early years there surrounded by family and friends. On December 14, 1968, she married Doug Waugh and together they built a life filled with love and family until her tragic accident in 1982.

Marilyn was predeceased by her loving parents Ken and Veronica Lawrence.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She leaves behind her beloved son Jason Waugh (Kelly); her treasured grandchildren Ariana Jade Waugh (Eric James McCarthy), Daria O’Neill (Timothy Ireland), Max Waugh and Reeve Waugh; her two beautiful great-grandchildren Aaliyah Lynne McCarthy and Elise Christina McCarthy, who brought her endless happiness; her cherished siblings Bonnie Doyle (predeceased by her husband Doug), Jacque Lawrence, Rod Lawrence (Jackie) and Tammey Hugo (predeceased by her husband Robert); as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply.

Despite the challenges she faced, Marilyn’s strength and determination never wavered. In 1982, she survived a tragic accident in Carlyle, Saskatchewan, a testament to her incredible resilience. She later moved to Regina, Saskatchewan where she spent the rest of her life surrounded by family and friends who cherished her deeply.

Marilyn’s warmth, kindness and unwavering spirit touched the lives of many. She will be remembered for her love of family, her quiet strength and her generous heart.

A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be planned at a later date. Until then, we take comfort in knowing that she was an amazing woman whose love and legacy will live on in those who knew and loved her.

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

The photograph of Marilyn with Jason brings back memories of her kind, gentle spirit, the many haircuts she gave all of her family, a special camping trip I shared with her and Doug when I was a child, and how she adored her son. Jason you were so precious to her! R.I.P. Marilyn.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Marilyn. She was such an amazing person. Probably the most loving and beautiful person inside and out. Doug, Marilyn and Jason spent alot of time with our family and we have so many fond memories that we will cherish forever. Marilyn was always a sweet, gentle, kind person, and she was always so beautiful. I spent a lot of time with Marilyn as a young girl. Tammy and I were flower girls at her wedding. When Jason entered this world, we were all so excited but no one was more thrilled than Marilyn. She was an amazing mom and adored her little blond energetic boy!
Marilyn’s accident was so devastating to all, but she fought through to be there for her family and Jason. She always treated me like a little sister, and I always enjoyed spending time with her. We were all blessed to have Marilyn pass through our lives. Wishing our condolences to the Lawrence Family and to Jason, Kelly, Max and Reeve.

I spent many of my weekends and summer vacation in Estevan with Marilyn and Doug. I have such fond memories of Marilyn, one being all the time I spent at the salon with her. She would do my hair and nails and always made me feel so important. She was a bright light in our family. Marilyn had a smile that lit up the room. When Jason was born, her world was complete. She had so much love to give to Jason. As she desperately wanted to have a child. I know she was very proud of her Son. Is with heavy heart that I heard of her passing today.❤️

I had the pleasure of knowing Marilyn but only as a young boy. The day Marilyn, Doug and Jason moved to Carlyle my life changed forever. I do remember what a wonderful lady and mother she was. After witnessing the accident in 1982, Jason and I became even closer. Her amazing personality continues to live on through her beloved son. Marilyn was a very special person as Jason remains my true friend like a brother to this day. I thank you for that. Sending you my deepest sympathies for your loss. Take care.
