Lockie, Mabel Alice

April 23, 2023

Mabel Alice Lockie

Mabel was born on April 3, 1938 in Grenfell, Saskatchewan, the second of 6 children. Her parents were John and Grace Wilson. Upon finishing school, Mabel got married on July 28, 1956 at Grenfell Apostolic Church. They moved to Regina and lived in a tiny house at 119 Osler Street. This house had no running water other than running to the corner to get it from a tap. This house was converted to a small single garage that still stands behind the house that Norm built by himself from a kit that cost $3500. It fortunately had running water and the outhouse was taken down. I remember it being taken down from the scar I still have from a falling goose neck tool. They also lived at 3734 Argyle Road, 4626 Pasqua Street, 4545 Rae Street, then to College Park 1 and finally at Victoria Park Care Home, all in Regina, Saskatchewan. Mabel had numerous part-time jobs which include working at Parkside Extendicare and then moved to full-time at SGI. Mabel worked at SGI for 15 years. For 35 years she went to her favorite place, Hawaii.

She was predeceased by her husband Norman and daughter Holly. Mabel is survived by her son Kim Lockie (partner Trudy Paterson); grandson Brock (Tara) Lockie and their sons Braxton and Zander and daughter Anika; granddaughter Shanna (Harrison) Blizzard and their children Oscar, Gunnar and Veronica; as well as adopted daughter Michelle Roland. A special thanks to Ron Jackson, who looked after Mabel a lot over the last 4 years. We would like to thank the Regina General Hospital Unit 5A for their compassionate care of Mabel and her family.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Heritage Alliance Church, 3575 Hillsdale Street, Regina, Saskatchewan. Interment will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, Saskatchewan (Please meet inside the cemetery gates).
