September 24, 2024

Lillian Mary Smith (nee Wells)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian Mary Smith (née Wells), age 88 years, on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in the Regina General Hospital with her daughter by her side.

Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Boyd; parents Lewis and Florence Wells, sisters Louise McConnell and Gwen Rya. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughter Louise (Bernard) and son Larry (Eileen). She was a devoted grandmother to Jonathan, Jessica, Daniel, Lori-Jo, Hannah, Logan (Tina) and Marshall (Ashley). Her great grandchildren include Sarah, Hailey and Millie. Her sister Beverly Ivall (Cal), her brother Irwin Wells (Virginia), sister-in-law Rheanne Smith and brother-in-law Norris Rya, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family will miss her.

Lillian was born and raised in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. As a young woman, she began her career in a jewellery store where she met a charming young watchmaker and they were married shortly thereafter. Passionate about jewellery, she and her husband opened up their own watch sales and repair, goldsmith and jewellery store in Swift Current for 40+ years. Lillian loved to cook and prepare wonderful meals, pies and cinnamon buns. Sewing with creativity came naturally for her. Lillian loved travelling making several trips to Arizona with Boyd. Hawaii was a highlight to visit with her friend Lucienne and they took various cruises to experience other destinations. A caring mother, grandmother and sister, Lillian was loving, thoughtful and devoted to her family and grandchildren.

Lillian always enjoyed a game of crib whether with family or with her friends at the Renaissance. She always ensured that all points were accounted for, whether in her hand or whoever she was playing with. A special thanks to all the staff at the Renaissance for their care and compassion. Our heartfelt gratitude is extended to the doctors and nurses at the Regina General Hospital for being there for Lillian in her final hours and comforting family. We will remember your dedication all as we grieve.

Cremation. No public service.

For those wishing to make a donation in Lillian’s memory, we suggest Canadian Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
