Lawrence Erhardt passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years on Friday, October 4, 2024 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Alfreda; his children Brian, Blair and Lisa (Bruce); grandchildren Kevin, Justin, Kyle, Sean, Ella and Connor; great-grandson Ashton; sisters-in-law Delores, Leona and Dianne; as well as many relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Godfrey and Catharina; his brother Wilfred; daughters-in-law Lynne and Sharon; parents-in-law John and Magdalena; sisters-in-law Lillian, Agnes and Marian; brothers-in-law Roy, Bill L, Bill B, Leo and Richard; nephew Gordon and niece Beverly.
Lawrence was born in Duval, Saskatchewan in 1933 and grew up on the family farm near Govan, Saskatchewan. He married Alfreda in 1955 and worked in Winnipeg, Manitoba for a few years before returning to Regina where they raised their family.
Lawrence loved to drive both professionally and for recreation, as evidenced by his 30-year career with Regina Transit, several years as a driving instructor for Dominion Driving School and his many years RVing with his one-ton GMC dual-wheel truck and fifth wheel pulling a 36’ trailer all across North America.
Lawrence was a gentle, easy-going man who enjoyed spending time with his family in many social gatherings.
In addition to farming for many years, Lawrence had a green thumb with his large perennial and vegetable gardens, which he showed with a great sense of pride. He loved all flowers especially his highly-prized gladiolus. He was a beekeeper for many years which provided pollen for his plants and delicious honey.
Lawrence’s talents extended into the creative side as well. Music was one of his talents. He was self-taught in playing the guitar, accordion and keyboard and he played in a local band in the 1950s.
Cooking and baking came naturally as well. Lawrence’s pots of soup and Christmas baking, are still fondly remembered, especially his Christmas cakes.
In addition, Lawrence had a talent for cutting hair, as many family members received haircuts for many years.
Lawrence’s talents further extended into his many ceramic, needlework and crochet projects.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Little Flower Roman Catholic Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jake Ibay Celebrant. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Regina, Saskatchewan.
