Toupin, Laurent "Larry" Maurice

February 20, 2025

Laurent "Larry" Maurice Toupin

It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Laurent Maurice Toupin on February 20, 2025 at the age of 76. Born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Larry dedicated much of his life to the community of Regina, Saskatchewan—a place where his kindness and commitment left an indelible mark.

Larry was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved spouse Brenda Toupin; his children Brendan (Michelle) and Justin (Grace); his sister Lucille Balfour; his stepchildren Devin (Diane), Adam and Brittany; his cherished grandchildren William, Arson, Yael and Axson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his dear parents Rita and David Toupin; his brother Marcel Toupin; his sisters Yvette Scheibel and Juliette Beugelmans; and brother-in-law Gordon Balfour.

A proud member of the Regina City Police Force, Larry rose through the ranks to retire as Deputy Chief of Police—a career that reflected his lifelong dedication to public service and safety. He was an alumnus of College Mathieu in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan and a man who believed in the power of education, service, and community. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Larry’s life was enriched by his genuine love for building friendships and creating lasting connections. His affection for his Irish Wolfhounds, Maguire and Khan, was well known, and we take comfort in imagining them by his side as he now finds solace in heaven.

Known for his remarkable ability to put others first, Larry possessed an infectious sense of humor, a quick wit, and a collection of dad jokes that never failed to bring a smile. Even as he often downplayed the impact of his passing, the countless lives he touched stand as a testament to his warmth, compassion, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people.

In keeping with Larry’s final wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, a cause close to his heart. Special thanks are extended to the palliative care providers at Pasqua Hospital in Regina, whose compassionate care ensured Larry's comfort in his final days.

Larry’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. His life was a reminder of the power of kindness, service, and the enduring impact of a compassionate spirit. Though he may be gone, his memory will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Condolences

Lloyd and Fran

Regina Saskatchewan Canada

Larry was a wonderful, warm, funny man, and the best friend one could have. Lloyd and Larry did many things together, at Lloyd's garage and putzing around the wrecker! Lloyd has considered Larry as close as a brother. We had many wonderful times with them (and never forget how much fun our swims were!)

Our condolences to Brenda, we hope your special closeness and memories of Larry will bring you many smiles. We treasure the memories of your beautiful wedding. Sincere condolences to his family
