April 23, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Kelvin Joseph Solie, who was born on October 21, 1962 in Regina, Saskatchewan, to Chuck “Gerald” and Toots “Mary Anne” Solie, and passed away on April 23, 2026 in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Kelvin will be lovingly remembered by his wife Pat Gottselig, with whom he shared life since 2008; his children Kyle Solie (Rina Heisler) and Tricia MacQuarrie (Marcus); his stepchildren Donn Keil and Curtis Keil; his sister Kim (Doug) Watts. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Téa Solie and Alex MacQuarrie, and found great joy in watching them play sports.
Kelvin had a deep love for the outdoors and an active lifestyle. He enjoyed broomball, baseball, hockey, and cherished time spent fishing and hunting with close friends. His happiest moments were often spent at the lake, surrounded by family or working on his beloved Jeep, “Wilson”. He also took great pride in training his hunting dog and loyal companion, Timber.
A dedicated member of his community, Kelvin gave countless hours volunteering in Balgonie, Saskatchewan. He served 12 years on town council, including his final two years as deputy mayor, leaving a lasting impact through his commitment and leadership.
Kelvin spent 37 years working at SaskTel before retiring in the fall of 2017. During his career, he built many lifelong friendships that became his close-knit circle of fishing and hunting companions.
Kelvin will be remembered for his strong sense of community, his love of family, and the genuine friendships he built throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Kelvin’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Balgonie Rink, Balgonie, Saskatchewan.

I worked with Kelvin for 37 years and played hockey with him as well. Kelvin always gave a helping hand! I remember him when he borrowed some of his home tools to me! It was the little things that he said or did that was thoughtful, it came natural for him to do those things! Last time I seen him was at Home Depot! He said to me “Are you retired yet! “ “being retired is like having a Saturday everyday!”RIP Kelvin! You will be missed!

Most unfortunate and sad. My work area in SaskTel partners with the one Kelvin worked in for decades.
Kelvin was always my first choice whenever I needed the most efficient and timely resolution of troubles. He was focused and easy to work with and called it the way it was. I recall a time when he stated clearly to another staff member ‘That trouble is a figment of your imagination!’ Of course, he was right.
I’m still toiling (working) at SaskTel. Kelvin’s expertise and approach is missed!

I’m struggling to put into words what you meant to me, but I want your family to know how deeply grateful I am. From the day I started to work with you, you took me under your wing and treated me like family. Your patience, guidance, and amazing sense of humour shaped not only how I worked, but who I am today. You made the tough days easier, shared your wisdom without hesitation, and always made me feel valued. I carry your lessons and your example with me every day. Thank you for everything. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
