I was saddened when in prepping to write Kay, that finally my "checking for an obituary' before writing finally came up with a result. I am a cousin to Kay, though 56 yrs different in age, we shared our love of writing, art, and history, and later views on mental health after I met a student of hers. It was at that time that I finally learned her age, after we had been writing to each other for over 10 years :) It should have clicked, as she was technically my first cousin twice removed (or is it three times?), but I feel to both of us, age was simply a number. I will miss my correspondent, and sharing the family news with her.

Kay was a member of our local Hard of Hearing Association and that’s how I knew her. She was a nice lady, very smart and an honour to know her. My condolences to her family.

My parents came from Wolseley and I always enjoyed her writings, books and newspaper columns. She led a fascinating life.

Kay was a second cousin of my father, George Parley, late of Abbotsford, B.C. who grew up on the Stuartfield farm at Glenavon, son of Alexander Simpson Parley. The history of the Parleys in Saskatchewan dates back to the late 1800s, when they emigrated from Scotland to the Moffat, Glenavon area.
My condolences to the family of Kay. Cherish the many memories and keep her writings in the libraries around Saskatchewan.
We are always available and on call 24/7.
