Schauenberg, Karen

It is with much sadness that the family of Karen Schauenberg (nee Limacher) announce her passing on Friday, January 5, 2024. Karen was born on May 5, 1967 and was raised on the family farm by Mazenod, SK. She attended school in Assiniboia, SK. She met her husband Rob Schauenberg in Moose Jaw, SK in May of 1987. They lived there for a bit, then moved to Regina, SK where she worked for SaskTel. After their marriage on June 24, 1989, she worked at Cumis. In 1990, they moved to Calgary, AB for 6 months only to return to Regina to make it their home from then on.
Karen was employed at Saskatchewan Workers Compensation Board (WCB) for 23 years until she was diagnosed with cancer. Her courageous battle lasted 2 ½ years.
She was predeceased by her parents Bernard Limacher (2021) and Elizabeth “Betty” Limacher (nee Scheireick) (2012); Rob’s parents John Schauenberg (2003) and Annette Schauenberg (nee Cayer) (2006); niece Jenna Padfield (1994); and great-niece Olivia Dahlman (2022). Karen leaves behind her husband Rob of 34 years; her 2 sisters Annette (Dan) Chabot of Mankota, SK and Melanie (Sheldon) Padfield of Moose Jaw, SK and their families; brother-in-law Conrad (Gloria) Schauenberg of Assiniboia, SK and his family; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
A Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Karen’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Oh my! Sending my sincere condolences to Rob (Bubba), Melanie, and Annette. Though we lost touch for our adult years, Karen was my friend for many, many years of our youth. I have so many memories of our chats and adventures growing up - shared with Melanie and Tracey P. She had a beautifully contagious smile. My heart breaks for you, Rob.

My deepest sympathies to Rob and family. I worked with Karen at WCB. She was a great co-worker and friend. We shared many stories and lots of laughs while working together and going for coffee. Karen always talked about her 2 dogs Banjo and Gizmo. She was a kind person with a beautiful smile. . RIP Karen.
