June 19, 2024
John Peter Zak passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024 at the age of 68 years.
John was born on February 22, 1956 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Jozef and Jadwiga Zak. He attended Miller High School...sometimes. He loved playing and coaching sports, especially wrestling, shinny, baseball, football and curling.
John married Lori Tomuschat on November 16, 1985. Jozef came along in 1990, and a cherished granddaughter Ava in 2008. He worked at Western Clay and Wappel Construction before finding his career at Canada Post, where he won awards for customer service and loved being involved with Postal Curling.
John lived life to the fullest, playing crib with his great buddies, spending time at the beach with family and friends, gardening, playing VLTs at the Casino (until the smashing pigs incident), quading, traveling, and being "the gardener" at Rudy's. John and Lori were adventure partners, traveling the world and shopping for their store at Regina Beach.
John was a man with a gruff exterior but a teddy bear heart. He would do anything for his family and friends, and often sacrificed to look after his people.
John leaves a lifetime of friends and family to celebrate his life, including his wife Lori; son Jozef (Amanda); granddaughter Ava; mother-in-law Estelle; siblings Ed (Andrea), Henry (Jan), Janet (Bruce), and Annie; treasured nieces and nephews Nathan (Lindsay), David (Rebecca), Ryan, Derek (Catalina), Justin, Samantha (Matt), Chelsea (Mark), Zak (Andrea); sisters-in-law Lee-Ann and Kathy (Dave); nephews Adam, Griffin, Graydon, Liam, Ethan, Xavier, Max, Raphael, Colt, Everet and nieces Zoe, Aubrey and Haley. John was predeceased by his father Jozef, mother Jadwiga, and father-in-law Rudy.
John's family would like to thank the Pasqua Hospital 5D Oncology Ward, Palliative Care and the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic for their exceptional care and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
