December 3, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Kenneth Zimmer, late of Regina Beach, Saskatchewan, who passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025. Jim was born on March 3, 1948 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He worked at Canada Post for 35 years, retiring in 2002.
He was predeceased by his parents Leo and Anne Zimmer. Jim leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 41 years, Elffie (nee Kachur) Zimmer; his brother Jack Zimmer; his daughters Dianna, Terri, Kirstin and Stephanie; his grandchildren Daphne, Trent, Nick, Eric, Ben, Charlie, Stella and Elijah and great-granddaughter Hayden.
Over the years Jim enjoyed playing softball and hitting a round or two of golf. However, his greatest passion was curling, which took him to compete in every province. He played for The Elks Club, The Legion and Canada Post representing Saskatchewan in over 20 National Championships across Canada. He curled in nearly every annual Canada Post Provincial Play Downs for 40 consecutive years. In 2011 he was elected to the Postal Curling Hall of Fame.
Jim enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends, especially his lifelong "partner in crime" Art Jacobs. Stories of their childhood adventures and mischievous exploits never failed to leave us doubled over in laughter. Jim will be remembered for his sense of humour and quick wit.
A special thank you goes to the staff at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial, Saskatchewan and the Lumsden Heritage and District Home for the compassionate care Jim received during the last years of his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, Regina Beach, Saskatchewan.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Society or The Legion.
