March 24, 2023
It is with great sadness, sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Gregory Yakobovich (YAKOBOVICH HOMES) of Regina, SK, who tragically left us unexpectedly returning to Regina from the lake with his best friend and companion by his side, Amigo, both deceased on March 24, 2023.
Greg, age 59, will be deeply missed by his two sons Brandon Yakobovich and Jayden Yakobovich; his daughter-in-law Chelsea; and his grandchildren Austin, Amira and Amaya. He is also survived by his 3 sisters Lynda (Alan), Barbara (Rod) and Diana (Brian); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Greg was predeceased by his mother and father William and Irene Yakobovich (Senkiw) and his brother Randall Yakobovich.
Greg will be remembered by his love of family, his fondness of the lake and cabin, his passion for home building, his contagious laughter, generous heart and being the ‘staple of life’ for his two sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
“In the end, it’s not what we got, it’s what we shared. It’s not what we bought, it’s what we built. It’s not our success, it’s our significance. Thanks to those who loved me, you have made my heart bigger. Thanks to those who left, you showed me nothing is forever. Thanks to those who stayed, you showed me the true meaning of friendship. Thanks to all those who entered my life, you made me the person I was. Dance like nobody is watching. Sing like nobody is listening. In the end, do what makes you happy because in the end who is there is just you!”
Rest in peace Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend! Forever in Our Hearts!
A Celebration of Greg’s life will be held for the family only.

I just found out about Greg’s passing. Since he hadn’t responded to texts, I searched for an obit. I’m so sorry for your loss! We only met twice in person, but had a connection from the first time we met. He came into the long term care facility where I worked to check it out for his mom. In our conversations, I learned that he was a very caring person who loved his family, loved his job & truly appreciated his staff. And he REALLY loved his chihuahua. 😂 He was a lovely man. May he rest in peace. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I was very sad to hear of Greg's passing. He was a larger than life character and always had great stories to tell (I cannot confirm if they we all true or not lol!). A very generous man. My deepest condolences to all who knew and loved him.

To Greg's family, you have lost a good man. Over the years of knowing Greg, the love for his family was always evident. I truly believe he loved you all and always wanted what was best for you, even if he had to display some tough love every once and a while. To Greg, I'm going to miss our lunch meetings and visits at your office. The countless times we shared laughs, shared our disputes on all the wrong doings in the world, especially from our favorite "tax man". You always made time for me and I never got the chance to properly say thank you and I wish there was a way I could. We did some dumb things, talked about dumber things but I will always remember the laughs we had over the years. I'll be sure to sneak some food out from my plate to bring home for my dog, at least mine doesn't want to rip my hand off and fight me everytime I see her. Maybe Amigo will be a little more chill moving forward as he sure wasn't nice to rest of us. Lol! I'm going to miss you buddy. Relax, you did a great job raising your family and they will get through this. I will check in on them once in awhile for you. Take care old friend and one day we'll pick up from where we left off and continue our conversations. Until then just keep being you! Love you buddy!

My memories are sad as I recall meeting Greg back in the 90's as a guager at IPL while I was surveying at Regina Terminal. We had great chats about life and he was a great working colleague. My heart goes out to his family and all who also crossed path with him.

We were very shocked and saddened to hear of Greg's sudden passing. Condolences to the Yakobovich family.
We came to know Greg in the last few years after we acquired a cabin next to Greg's. He was most welcoming and generous to us, helping us with numerous issues over the last year. We know he also went out of his way to help other neighbours as well - from snow removal to resolving maintenance issues. Greg was a unique man - he had a big personality, he did not hold back with his thoughts, and he had generous heart.
It is going to be strange to not have him around the lake, it was his refuge and spent much of his free time there. We will miss him and are grateful we got a chance to know him.
Rest easy Greg.
