Grant Bernt

It is with deep sadness that the family of Grant Bernt (born in Regina, Saskatchewan) share his passing on November 28, 2023 at the age of 56.

Grant is survived by his wife and best friend, Cheryl; his daughter Jessica (Tanner) Royan and their two children Tucker and Walker; his stepdaughter Kelsey McDonald (Brad); his mom Martha; his siblings Karmen (Susan) and Ann (John); his mother and father-in-law Bruno and Mary Pletz, sister-in-law Karen (Terry) Maier. He was loved by many friends and family near and far. He was predeceased by his dad Arthur Bernt.

Grant worked at the family business Future Print for over 30 years. He had a gift of humour and selflessness. Grant was an amazing husband, son, brother, father, stepfather, grandfather and great friend to many. He loved to spend his summers at Eldora Beach searching the sand for glass, sea-dooing, fishing, and boating. Grant looked forward to spending the cold Saskatchewan winters in Huatulco, where he spent his days in the sun playing beach volleyball and pickleball. While at home, Grant loved to work on his 1952 GMC truck, which he rebuilt from scratch. He was always proud to bring his truck to various car shows. He also spent time hunting, ice-fishing, snowmobiling, playing with his grandchildren, and enjoying time with family and friends. Grant could fix or build anything and wasn’t afraid to take on any project.

The family would like to thank all our incredible family and friends who supported Grant during his six-month battle with cancer. Grant fought hard until the very end. Your thoughts, well-wishes, prayers, and kind words have brought us all great strength and comfort. Thank you to all who organized and contributed to fundraiser hosted by the Lumsden Oilers, the baseball team that Grant was a member of for many years. Their fundraising helped Grant attend treatment in Tijuana. We would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff in the palliative care unit at the Pasqua hospital who helped Grant in his final hours and treated him with dignity and grace. Also, thank you to Dr. Alibhai who assisted and supported Grant throughout his journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at the K&S Community Hall in Bethune, SK at 1:30 p.m. Live streaming of the service may be viewed at https://youtube.com/live/CQeTlvI7bwQ?feature=share

I am so very saddened by Grant's passing, a true friend and colleague. Grant was one of my very first friends when I moved here from Vancouver for work. I was one of the suppliers to Future Print, we hit it off immediately! Kim and I have very fond memories of times together with his wonderful wife Cheryl! Rest in peace my friend, I will mists you and that brilliantly dry sense of humour. Sincere condolences to Cheryl and family!
