December 1, 2024

Gordon Wayne Russell

Gord passed away in the Palliative Care Unit at the Regina Pasqua Hospital after suffering the effects of Lewy Body Disease on December 1, 2024 at the age of 82.

He was preceded by his parents George and Olga (Seidler) Russell, his brother Alan Russell and his sister Florence Wilkie. Gord is survived by his wife of forty years Heather (McTavish) Russell; nephew Jack (Myrna) Wilkie; nieces Debbie Steppanof and Janice (Neil) Koshman; sister-in-law Bonnie Morrison; nephew Ian Morrison; and special cousin Murray (Jonica) Seidler.

Gord spent many happy times at the farm his grandparents Max and Martha Seidler established in 1904 near Disley, Saskatchewan. He completed his education attending Herchmer School and Scott Collegiate before graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in 1964. He worked for both the Federal and Provincial government, predominantly in the area of labour relations. Gord loved sports and played hockey well into his fifties. He worked out at the gym five days a week until the age of 79. Gord liked being outside a great deal and was an avid hunter. He liked to travel and with Heather they had adventures in many places around the world.

There will be a Celebration of Gord’s Life at a later date at the Seidler Farm.

Thank you, Gord, for the 40 years of sharing life's joys, sorrows, adventures, your companionship and true love.

Rest in peace Gord. We were very lucky to have you and Heather as neighbours. You were always friendly and so polite. We always remember the day that you and Heather took us for a beautiful Fall drive through Qu’Appelle valley before Ed passed away. Thanks for the memories.
