Hastings, Gordon "Dennis"

November 11, 2025

Gordon "Dennis" Hastings

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon “Dennis” Hastings. Dennis passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, at the age of 86.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice (Trithart) Hastings; his four daughters Mary-Lynne (Mike) Stepan, Nadine Hastings, Sharon (Jasen) Markwart, and Denise Hastings (George). He is also lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren Rebecca Stepan, Carrie-Anne Stepan, Nathan Hastings, and Rhett Hastings as well by their partners and families. Dennis is also survived by his brother Allen (Glenda) Hastings and his sister Patricia Renwick; in-laws Bonnie Hastings, Mary Trithart, and Delores (Rodney) Wirth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was predeceased by his infant daughter Sandra Anne Holly Hastings; his parents Gordon and Ruby Hastings; his brothers Clarence (Jeannie) Hastings and Calvin “Joe” Hastings; and his brother-in-law Mervin Trithart.

Born and raised in Regina, SK, Dennis enlisted in the Navy in his younger years, where his love of ships, the open sea, and exploring the world first began. After returning to Regina, he met the love of his life, Alice, at a barn dance. They married in 1969 and recently celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Dennis was happiest when surrounded by people. His employment reflected that passion—whether selling advertising, driving cab, or working as a commissionaire, he always found a way to make lasting friendships. He had an incredible sense of humor and was often the life of the party, always ready with a joke, a song, a story, and a smile. He especially loved cheering on his family at sports games, school events, or any gathering that brought everyone together.

With a love of travel and adventure, Dennis enjoyed camping across Canada and visiting Mexico, the U.S.A., the Dominican Republic, and Europe. In retirement, he embraced a slower pace of life, spending his days reading, doing crosswords, painting, watching hockey, football, and documentaries, and pursuing woodworking projects. He had a fondness for garage sales, always on the lookout for the perfect antique. Above all, he cherished time with family and friends—his door was always open for long talks, card games, and had a fresh pot of coffee on.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Health Care Professionals of Unit 4A and the Palliative Care Unit 3A at the Regina Pasqua Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care during his time there. His family also thanks all who have offered love and support during this difficult time and throughout the years.

Honouring Dennis’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Interment will take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Dennis’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Canada.
