August 21, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gerrit (Jerry) de Leeuw, surrounded by family on August 21, 2023 at the age of 67 years.
Jerry was predeceased by his father Frederik de Leeuw.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Brenda; his seven children Elizabeth (Leslie), Magdalena (Maurice), Kristine (Anthony), Melissa (Ryan), Frederik, Wesley (Jordan), Victoria (Aaron); as well as his cherished twelve grandchildren Rene (Tyson), Aisley (Salman), Lane, Jaylin, Rhys, Jordyn, Carter, Isabella, Gerritt, Max, Mya, Ariel; and his 3 great-grandchildren Eli, Clementine, and Sadiq; his mother Marie; sisters Helen (Peter), Kathy (Bill) and Mary (Dave); many nieces and nephews and his two adoring dogs Patches and Rex.
Jerry was born in Regina, SK on July 11, 1956. Working in the family business Dutch Industries, founded by his grandfather, he started into a career in welding that lasted decades. Welding was just one of his many talents, some may call him a jack of all trades, when presented with a challenge he always rose to the occasion. He took pride in making custom Christmas gifts for his grandchildren each year, baby cradles and rocking chairs for each of his daughters when they were expecting their first child and many more projects. His talents will be seen and his love felt in each of his creations for generations to come.
He always put family first, whether that was helping with homework, chaperoning a school camping trip, fixing a plumbing issue, car repairs, or cheering from the stands encouraging us to always do our best at anything we did. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and uncle. He wore many hats during his time with us and each one fit him so perfectly, he is forever our hero.
Please join us for a Celebration of his Life on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Regina Funeral Home, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK. The family welcomes donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation as an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers.

My condolences to Brenda and the family - keeping you in our thoughts and prayers!! We will always remember Jerry - he was the oldest of Opa and Opoe Cruson's grandchildren and loved spending time with us when he was younger - camping or canoeing or playing his guitar. We have lots of fond memories of him.

Jerry was a unique individual, whether he was riding into town on a horse to woo Brenda, making Olliebollen for the crew at New Years Eve or climbing on our roof to pick crab apples for his wine, he always made us smile. We will miss him so much. Condolences to all.
