March 1, 2023
It is with much sadness that we say good-bye to a dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend Elmer after a very short and valiant battle with cancer. Elmer passed peacefully on March 1, 2023 at the age of 81 years with his son, daughter and wife by his side.
Elmer was predeceased by his mother and father Julia and Kasper Lang, his sister Mildred Back and brother Glen Lang, brothers-in-law Gerry Klassen and George Back, father-in-law Ed Halbach, mother-in-law Betty Halbach and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn; children Kim (Jo Marie) Lang and Tracy (Rod) Temple; grandchildren Alia and Matthew Temple and Maria Lang; his sisters Aileen Klassen, Bernice (Barry) Langan, Beatrice (Wally) Exner; his brothers Joe (Sheila) Lang and Ray Lang; sisters-in-law Doris (Nevin) Henn, Janet (Ted) Loewen; brothers-in-law Donald (Linda) Halbach and Lloyd (Tina) Halbach; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Elmer spent most of his working life as a journeyman carpenter, and a good part of that time with the Pasqua Hospital and Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina, SK. When you walk around those places you may see much of his work. He retired in 1997 and enjoyed the next 26 years doing things he loved to do at his pace. He spent many hours on the golf course with his friend Gerald as well as lots of visits with friends over coffee at the Northgate Mall.
In addition to his work Elmer also built several cottages, a house at Regina Beach, garages and sheds. He helped with many construction projects, tried his hand at plumbing and electrical, but simply refused to learn how to paint. He loved fishing and spent many hours on the lake out at Colesdale Park where he built a cottage. And as his grandchildren will tell you, he never missed the game shows on TV, his favorite being “The Price is Right”. Every time they visited they all got to sit and watch with him and join in the fun.
We will miss Elmer so much, but he is finally pain free and in a much better place. May he rest in peace.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 100 Argyle Street N., Regina, SK. All expressions of sympathy are welcome. Donations in Elmer’s memory can be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (Allan Blair Cancer Centre). The family wishes to extend their gratitude and thanks to the caregivers of Wascana Grace Hospice for their care given to Elmer in his final days.

We were sad to hear Elmer has passed away. One can only imagine the grief you are feeling during this time. May the Lord bring peace to each of your hearts. Not the peace of the world, but that, “peace that passes understanding.”

Dear Tracy, Rod, Alia & Matthew, Our sincere sympathies to you and your extended family as you reflect on the life of your dear (grand)father. I hope he is comfortably in the front row of the heaven's version of the Price is Right, wearing a splashy t-shirt. Take good care, Cindy, Arnie, Magnus, Freya and Murphy

Carolyn, Kim, Tracy and families. Garnet and I were very saddened to hear of Elmer’s passing and our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Elmer indeed was a great carpenter and all around handy fellow. He always seemed to have some kind of project on the go. I remember descriptions of many of them - and of happy times spent at the cottage - from our coffee breaks together, Carolyn, in our SAHO days.

Dear Carolyn and family, My deepest sympathies to you all. Elmer held a special place in my dad Paul's life as they worked together at the Hospital. I know that Elmer probably helped out on some building projects with Jean and Paul over the years. May all the good memories help you thru this time and the days ahead. Peace and blessings, Wendy Paquin, Balcarres SK
