March 4, 2023
Elizabeth “Liz” Blaskovich (nee Vokali) passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years on March 4, 2023 at Sunset Extendicare in Regina, SK.
Left to celebrate her life are her three daughters Cathy (Zenon), Sharon (Barrie), Denise; her sisters Agnes Sich, Annie (Gordon) Sich; sisters-in-law Lorraine Vokali, Debbie Vokali, Mary Pryde, Velma Veresh, Beverley Blaskovich; grandchildren Jason, Rodney, Amie, Kevin, Bradley, Ava; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Liz was born at Lestock, SK to Joseph and Annie Vokali. She married Zoltan (Chester) Blaskovich on July 17, 1956. They resided on a small family farm near Lestock until they sold it in 1976. They moved to Lestock where she held numerous jobs in the community and retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital after 22 years of service. Following her retirement she enjoyed gardening, tending to her beautiful flowers, volunteering in the community, dancing, knitting, crocheting, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.
In 2007, Liz moved to Regina to be closer to her daughters and found a perfect home at Selo Gardens where she was able to continue her love for gardening, volunteering and socializing. She was able to spend time with her granddaughter, Ava, showing her how to cook and tend to the flowers and vegetable garden. She also enjoyed spending time with her great-grandson, Liam. She loved to bake and cook for family and friends. A family gathering would not be complete without her cabbage rolls, dinner buns and poppy seed crescents.
Liz was able to enjoy travelling outside the country to Cuba, Hawaii as well as a cruise; visiting Bermuda, Azores, Portugal, Spain, France and England.
She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Annie Vokali; husband Zoltan (Chester) Blaskovich; friend Steve Nameth; her brothers Albert and Joseph Vokali; brothers-in-law Joe Sich, Andrew Veresh, John Blaskovich; sisters-in-law Pearl (Siegfried) Hobert, Alice (Jim) Sich, and Geraldine (Julius) Racz.
Liz was a very loving, kind and caring person with a great sense of humour. She was loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Sunset Extendicare West Wing for the kind and compassionate care Liz received while residing there.

my dear Cathy and Zenon, Sharon and Barry, Denise, and families, Dennis and I were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of your Mom. Know that our hearts are with all of you during this time of grief and adjustment to living life without having Mom nearby.
Auntie Liz was always so very full of life, abounding in energy, eyes sparkling in welcome, arms wide open to give happy hugs or to share a hearty laugh. She was so very accepting of anyone who happened along; one of the kindest women we've ever had the privilege to meet. She loved her gardens, especially the brightly coloured flowers. I remember so well the entire backlane at her home in Lestock lined by rows of gorgeous orange Tiger lilies. Even now, whenever we see orange Tiger Lilies they bring smiles of remembrance of good times, great food, and warm hospitality. Dennis and I extend our deepest sympathy to each of you, and pray that the peace of God will settle around you to bring comfort during the days ahead.

Cathy, Sharon, and Denise:
Our sincerest thoughts go out to each of you and your respective others as you celebrate the life of your Mom.
Your Mom was a special person and her amazing personality will live on through each of you. Someone who shared so much life with you will always be a part of you. I know that grief comes in waves. Be kind and gentle with yourself. Dwell in the great memories and allow them to give you peace and comfort, as well as remind you of the joy she brought into each of your lives.
From what I saw through the years, she was a caring, fun, and sometimes feisty woman and mother. I will always cherish the wonderful memories I have of your Mom, including her smile and laugh. It was such an unrealized privilege to visit your Mom. She was an incredibly smart and thoughtful woman.
Words cannot express the sadness we feel. She will be forever missed. We are sending you our love during this difficult time, and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Please accept our sincere condolences.
