February 12, 2026

Elaine Doreen Iles

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Elaine Doreen Iles, formerly of Regina, Saskatchewan, on February 12, 2026 at Indian Head Hospital, Indian Head, Saskatchewan at the age of 95. Elaine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend.

Besides being an amazing homemaker, Elaine took in boarders for a number of years. In 1970 she began working part-time as a merchandise clerk at Sears Bargain Centre and was there for 25 years. She was keenly interested in gardening, loved her flowers, did ceramics, enjoyed camping all over North America with the family in the summer, then the stationary site at Sherwood Forest, as well as travelling with their motor home in later years with RV clubs and at their place in Arizona during the winter. She loved dancing, including square dancing, and taking photographs, especially of people and family events and the many trips. Most of all, her family was vitally important to her.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Stan; her son Darrell; her parents Adolf and Elisabeth Assman; and several siblings and their spouses. She is lovingly remembered by her children Judith Silverthorne of Indian Head, Saskatchewan, Barry (Pamela) of Stone Pointe Estates, Saskatchewan, Darlene Ellis of New Zealand; daughter-in-law Diane of Regina, Saskatchewan; as well as grandchildren Michelle (Scott) Tremblay and family Emma and Tyson (Saskatoon); Christine and family Kelsey, Elaina, Michael (Regina); Amanda Butz (Brad) and family Caelab, Madeline, Payton, Ryder (Southey); Aaron Silverthorne (Regina); Amie Iles (Derek Eskowich) and family Damien, Cole, Jayden, Brooke (Yorkton); Grant Hawes (Bronwyn) (Regina); Tayla (Logan) Ellis and Zara (Isaac) Ellis (New Zealand) and Shania Ellis (Australia); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Elaine will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and devotion to family.

Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2015 - 4th Avenue North, Regina, Saskatchewan, officiated by Pastor Ted Giese. Following the lunch, the interment will be at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the Moffat Cemetery (14 km south of Wolseley, Saskatchewan on Grid 617). In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire contributions may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association Saskatchewan Division, 2702-12th Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan S4T 1J2 or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279-3rd Ave S, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan S7K 2H8.

I am so sorry to just hear about Elaine, my heart goes out to Judith and family. Elaine was an amazing lady from day one when I met her, she arrived 1 day after I started working in the care home and she became an instant friend with a genuine smile and a heart of gold that made me feel like I was important and a part of her life. She never complained about my cooking and was always grateful for everything and you could tell she loved her family deeply with all the stories she told me. She will be missed deeply. Big heartfelt hugs to her and to the family.

Deepest Sympathy to you Barry and all your family on the passing of your Mom. Although I only met her the few times she was at Brad and Amanda's I really enjoyed visiting with her. She was such a lovely kind person. May God be with you all today, tomorrow and always.

I don't know where to begin with my condolences to Judith and all of Elaine's family... my Mom and I shared so many memorable times with Elaine and Judith, innumerable lunches at various restaurants catching up on family and life, many picnics full of smiles, Saskatchewan summer days and yummy lunches, day outings and most recently Elaine's 95th Birthday celebration. How does one express the happiness of these events and the sorrow at the loss of never again. We'll always remember these good times! We'll reminisce together, look at the photos and be happy we shared so much. With sadness we say, "Goodbye "
