Don Sitter

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father Don Sitter on February 23, 2024 at the age of 84. Don was born on August 1, 1939 in Regina, SK.

Don was predeceased by his parents Louis and Katherine Sitter (Bosch); siblings Ken (Elsie) Sitter and Delores (Larry) Maloski; mother and father-in-law Peter and Elizabeth Cyca (Ottenbreit), brother-in-law Randy and sister-in-law Carol.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Leona Sitter of Santa Maria Nursing Home in Regina; daughter Karen (Darren) and granddaughter Amanda (Beau), great-grandchildren Helena and Savannah-Rae, granddaughter Kayla (Matt), great-grandchildren Ayla, Everleigh and Barret; son Blaine; daughter Rhea and granddaughter Brittany (Taylor). Don is also survived by sisters-in-law Sharon (Harry) and Donna; as well as many special nieces and nephews.

After over 30 years of service, in the year 2000, Don retired from Mosaic (Kalium) Potash. Until recent years, Don enjoyed his retirement travelling with his wife Leona. They enjoyed road trips to the Southern United States where they enjoyed going to swap meets and markets looking for treasures to add to their collections and also items to bring home to their beloved grandchildren. They also took many trips to Hawaii over the years - this was one of their favorite travel destinations.

Dad’s proudest accomplishment was his family. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed family gatherings. He especially enjoyed attending our sporting events and going over plays after every game, always encouraging us to do our best. Dad enjoyed fishing trips with his son-in-law Darren and brother-in-law Larry. Dad also treasured his many friends and you could find him almost every morning at Country Style Donuts having coffee and visiting with his good friend Leonard and many other regulars.

The family would like to thank Dad’s many doctors, nurses and the staff at the Regina Pasqua Hospital, especially Unit 5D for their excellent care and compassion during Dad’s final weeks.

Private Family Interment will be held at a later date. As per Dad’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope’s Home, 2200 - 25th Avenue, Regina, SK S4S 4B6 Donate Today – Hope's Home.

My deepest sympathies Leona, Karen, Blaine and Rhea and extended family. I will always have fond memories of Dad Sitter growing up around your family. The A&W Tabernacle, how he would always sneak in the dark living room and scare us by yelling boo while watching horror movies every time, taste testing his homemade apple wine, and his famous quote ”It is good to be the King” and always having a good laugh with him just to name a few. RIP Dad Sitter❤️

Don was my first cousin, We didn’t visit much but always kept in touch, on one occasion We decided to do a rural tour, in the Vibank area, doing lunch and getting reacquainted with Sitter family history. Don’s passing came as a shock after having a long talk with Don last summer abt. My brother Ray’s death. Many fond memories of Don will always stay with Me. My condolences to You all. Dan

I will never forget trying to convince Don that Rhea and I found out several bottles of wine evaporated at Karen’s wedding. He was such a nice man, I still would always go up and say hello when I would see him around, I will miss seeing him and I will hurt for you all, Such a wonderful family you Sitters are, hugs Leona, Karen, Blaine, Rhea and all of your loved ones.
