Zolc, Diane Danuta

November 13, 2023

Diane Danuta Zolc

Diane was born in Bucyki, Poland and immigrated to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in August 1971 with her daughter Ela. She married Steve Zolc and his children were blessed to have her as their mother.

Diane was a talented seamstress and worked at the CanaDay’s in Moose Jaw for a number of years and then transitioned to sewing curtains and drapes in Regina, Saskatchewan. Her extraordinary skill became well known and her drapes were decorating many show homes and prominent homes.

Diane was an active member of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church. She was always available to help those who were ill, needed a ride, a meal or to join the ladies in the community to make perogies and cabbage rolls. Diane was also available to help families immigrate from Poland by helping them find homes, jobs, filling out paperwork, meals or rides.

If you ever visited her home, you would have seen her yard in full bloom and a garden producing in abundance.

Diane never missed her children’s or grandchildren’s events. She was always there supporting her family at extracurricular activities. She always attended weddings, baptisms and baby showers.

Diane was predeceased by her husband Steve Zolc; her parents Eugene and Paulina Tegoborski; her brother Dolo Tegoborski; her sister Lucy Nutley; son Richard Zolc; daughters-in-law Bonnie Zolc and Judy Zolc; and grandson Ryan Oyka.

Diane is survived by her children Linda (Steve) Janke, Elwood (Gayle) Zolc, Ela (Robert) McGill, Don (Johanne) Zolc and Sylvia (Dean) Lusok; grandchildren Amber, Kesha, Amanda, Jill, Crystal, Hope, Macey, Ryan, Colin, Laura, Evan, Chris and Brenden; great-grandchildren Naomi, Garet, Madison, Jack, Brennan, Brielle, Emma-Lou, Aurora, Yorke, Charlie, Walker, Payton, Megan, Cache, Steele, Cari-Anne, Jackson, Brooklyn, Molly, Penelope, Marek, Judah, Charis, Cassidy, Elisa and Wells; great-great-grandchild Rylar.

Prayers will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 2275 Atkinson Street, Regina, Saskatchewan. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 2275 Atkinson Street, Regina, Saskatchewan. Interment will be held in the Spring of 2024 in Rosedale Cemetery, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Diane may be made to the Recreation Department of Lumsden Heritage Home, Box 479, Lumsden, Saskatchewan S0G 3C0.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

I was deeply saddened by the news of Diane’s passing. I have very fond memories of her from my time living in Lumsden with the McGills in 2005 and of my 2015 visit for Ryan and Macey’s wedding. Diane was an exceptional woman who seemed to have endless talents, time and love for her large and extended family. I especially recall her coming over and making perogies from scratch, I’d never had them before and to this day they are the best I have ever had. Every time I have eaten some since, I have thought of her. I believe this is a truly fortunate thing, to be able to relive a moment when someone touched your heart in a most ordinary way and that that moment is a reflection of their character and how they lived their life. She was extremely welcoming, a good conversationalist, with a sense of humour that I couldn’t determine was dry or cheeky and I’m so glad she passed those qualities to her daughter Ela and Granddaughters Macey and Hope who I got to know so well. My condolences to them and the extended Zolc families. Requiescat in Pace.
