Delmar Mayes, late of Regina, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the age of 87.

Delmar is survived by his loving wife Jeanne of 61 years; his son James; daughter Gwen (Doug) Cross; grandsons Michael and Shawn (Amanda) Cross; great-grandchildren Maddysin and Jace. He will also be deeply missed by his beloved dog Trinity. Delmar also leaves behind his sister Enid (Dick) Dodsworth; brother-in-law Jim (Barb) McMurdo; as well as extended family and many friends.

Delmar was predeceased by his mother and father Ada and Elmer Mayes; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Viola and Bob McMurdo; and daughter-in-law Arlene Fayant.

Delmar led a full life. He retired from Regina Transit after 30 years of service and then drove school bus for Hertz for several years more. In his spare time, he participated in square dancing, swimming, mini-golf and bowling where he made many lasting friendships.

Delmar will be remembered for his kind and compassionate nature, as well as being someone you could count on. He was known for his love of music, fun and laughter. He had a great love of music, he sang in the church choir for several years and even in his final year he delighted the staff and residents of his care home by frequently bursting into song.

The most important thing to Delmar was his family and friends. He delighted in spending time with them, visiting, playing cards or on the occasional trip. His fun-loving spirit will be missed.
