It is with deep sadness that the family of Dan Ruiu announce his passing on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at the age of 88.

Dan is survived by his wife Ioana “Nellie” Ruiu (nee Visan); son Dragos Ruiu (wife Leah and children Neil, Bryce and Zim); daughter Cristina Ruiu (husband Lyle and children Jack, Nicholas and Victoria); brother Adi Ruiu (wife Marietta and son Gabriel). He was predeceased by his parents Constantin Ruiu and Sofia Ruiu (nee Gabroveanu).

Dan had a passion for living and led an exciting life as an electrical engineer. He enjoyed a long and prestigious career working in both government and consulting positions locally and internationally. He was fond of travelling for both work and leisure and has visited almost all of the continents. He relished playing tennis and skiing in the mountains and he liked teaching his grandkids about both sports. He was proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He successfully instilled his enthusiasm for both learning and exploration in his family. His greatest love was his wife and partner Ioana “Nellie” who went on countless adventures with him. Dan will be missed by all his family (including his Harbour Landing “family”) but they get comfort in knowing he lived his life the way he wanted to and as best he could even during challenging times.

Special thanks to the staff, caregivers and nurses at Harbour Landing Village, Regina Home Care, Pasqua Hospital and the Regina General Hospital as well as Dr. Girgis for taking such good care of Dan.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Harbour Landing Village in the Gathering Room, 4000 James Hill Road, Regina, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dan may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
