Brette Hackl

It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of Brette Hackl, beloved wife of Adrian and devoted mother to Oliver and Samuel, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Brette was born in 1982 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to Rod and Carla Cozma and grew up alongside her younger sister Erin. Raised in a Christian home, Brette’s faith guided her throughout life. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on April 26, 1998, and later served as a full-time volunteer minister, sharing the Bible’s message with zeal.

Brette met Adrian in 2003 and felt an instant connection. They were inseparable from that moment on. They were married on May 29, 2004, and eventually made Regina their home. There they built a life filled with love, laughter, and faith. When their sons, Oliver (born 2008) and Samuel (born 2010), arrived, Brette’s great desire to become a mother was realized. She poured her heart into raising her boys, endlessly proud of them and the young men they are becoming.

Brette loved creating a warm, welcoming home, delighting in gatherings with family and friends. Being a talented cook, it was always a treat to be invited to share a meal with her family. Thoughtful and generous by nature, Brette often brought comfort and joy to others through small acts of kindness.

We take comfort in knowing Brette’s story is not over. Her strong faith assures us that she is safe in Jehovah’s memory, and we look forward to the day when we can welcome her back, healthy and full of joy. As Jesus promised: “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” — John 5:28, 29

Brette will be lovingly remembered by her husband, sons, parents, sister, and many friends and congregation members whose lives she touched.

Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2020 Van Egmond Place, Regina, Saskatchewan. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be available via Zoom. You may join using the following details:

Brette was one of those people who was so warm and special. I will continue to look up to her example in every way. She was an excellent home maker, a wonderful pioneer, a kind and generous person who adored her family and her students. Her love for Jehovah and for people shone through so brightly. She was truly everything a good Christian woman should be and I will miss her. My heart breaks for all of her family and close friends. My most sincere sympathy to Adrian and Sam and Oliver. A sister is a best friend, a blessing and a kindred spirit- and so my thoughts are with you Erin as well. All my prayers until we can welcome her back in the new system.

I didn’t have the privilege of knowing Brette well. Her reputation preceded her as a loving mom and disciple maker. Hospitable and stylish lovely sister. I look forward to getting to really know Brette well in the real world ❤️‍🩹
