It is with saddened hearts that we the family of Benedictus (Ben) Peter Kuntz announce the sudden passing on Friday, June 9, 2023 of our beloved father and grandfather, at the age of 81 years.
Ben was predeceased by son Kevin, grandson David Haider, parents Mathias and Veronica (Stradeski) Kuntz; his sisters Karolina Selinger, Elizabeth Schmidt and Agatha Acton; his brothers Anton Kuntz, Clemence Kuntz, and Philip Kuntz; and former wife Earla Kuntz.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Gail (Murry) Orthner and grandchildren Morgan and Kyle; Laura (Conan) Haider and grandchildren Nolan, Kendra and Jocelyn; his sisters Mary Miller and Ammorina (Henry) Kulcsar and brother Pius (Gladys) Kuntz; sister-in-law Erica Kuntz and brother-in-law Jerry Acton; along with many nieces and nephews.
Ben was born on the family farm near Grayson, SK on October 24, 1941. He went to Columbia School and graduated from St. Henry’s High School in Melville, SK. He attended business college in Saskatoon, SK and later married his high school sweetheart Earla Mae Kuntz and started to raise his family. Ben held several careers over his lifetime, but had his best memories while working for Canadian Pittsburg and PCL Construction where he discovered his passion for building. He moved his family to Regina, SK and later started his own company to pursue his love of building homes. Ben has helped many families and friends over the years with his handy carpentry skills. Many decks, sheds, garages, and numerous home renovations were built by him.
Ben was an avid sports fan as well. His favorite sports to watch were baseball, football, hockey, and curling. His love of the Saskatchewan Roughriders was most notable. He enjoyed many evenings cheering them on from home and attending games.
Funeral Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Parish, Grayson, SK on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow.
Memorial donations in Ben’s name can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301 – 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1 www.alzheimer.ca/sk.
