February 19, 2025
Becky Makellky unexpectedly passed away on February 19, 2025 in her home in Sedley, Saskatchewan. After a struggle with cancer the past few months she went to be with her Lord and Savior Yeshua.
Becky is survived by her mother Marina Steckler; her husband Greg Makellky who she was married to for 44 years; her daughter Stephanie and two sons Justin and Kalvin; grandchildren Stephanie’s daughters Leneva, Elizavet and Hadassah; Justin and Deanne’s children Vincent, Theo, Charlotte and Eva; Kalvin and Amy’s sons Darien and Carter; her brother Dale (Hillary); her sister Bonnie (Nelson); as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her father Carl Steckler.
Becky got married to Greg in 1981 and they lived in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and then in Regina, Saskatchewan for 4 years before moving to Alberta for 5 years where she worked as a seamstress and sold books. During her time in Alberta, she learnt about homeschooling and Becky and Greg decided to homeschool their children from then on. Then they moved back to the Regina area in 1995. Becky was involved in many things over the years; running homeschool co-ops and spending many hours homeschooling her children, she sold homeschool curriculum and loved being a stay-at-home Mom. She loved to go to quilting weekends and made many friends along the way. Becky had a passion to always be learning new things and sharing her sewing projects with those around her. She loved to play games with her grandchildren, always willing to play a round of crib or the latest game the grandchildren wanted her to try and she liked to win too! Her vibrant smile and insightful thoughts will be dearly missed. In the last 6 - 7 years Becky was very involved in some BLE and THM online groups that she loved being a part of the weekly zoom calls where she built amazing friendships; some of them she even had the opportunity to meet in person. Becky was involved in the Beit Tzur congregation in Regina where many of her dear friends also attended. Becky will be missed by many.

Sending so much love and many prayers for comfort to all who loved Becky. I met her through BLE and like many others, loved having long chats with her. I loved hearing the babies in the background or see her latest sewing project. My heart broke with yours when I heard of her passing. She was, indeed, a remarkable woman!

We have such precious memories of our time with Becky in Central Butte, Sask. Becky and I helped in a V.B.S, put on by the United Church there. We discovered each other as born again Christians, and immediately bonded. Becky was in high school, and she became one of our family, and was like an older sister to our kids, ages 10, 8 & 4.
We love her dearly, and look forward to seeing her in heaven.
Greg, Justin, Calvin & Stephanie, we pray for God's comfort and strength for you. We know you will so miss her.

I met Becky when I was in elementary school and she was in High School. She became like a part of our family and I looked up to her like a big sister. She had a quiet gentle way about her. Though we didn't get to keep in touch ourselves much, I heard periodically about her family through my folks. I was so touched by the fact that she and Greg took the time to come to my wedding. She wrote me a special little letter, that I still have and treasure and added a special decorative touch to wrapping a gift; beyond fancy paper and a bow. So very thankful, my dear sister, that we will soon meet again and can sit down together and visit face to face! My deepest condolences to all of you as close family and friends. She leaves a big hole behind that I think only God can come and heal and fill. Hugs and prayers.

I met Becky during an online weight loss coaching in 2023. When the week was over several of us chose to remain in contact as friends afterwards. She was always a ray of sunshine in her videos that we shared with one another. I never got to meet her IRL but she was a constant source of encouragement even after her diagnosis. Prior to falling ill she had sewn tissue holders for each of us to carry in our purses with “Bless You” embroidered on them. Little did she know that we will be using those exact gifts to grieve her loss from our lives. I rejoice in knowing that she can rest now, pain free, but I know my life will be a little bit emptier because she’s gone.

To Becky’s Family, My sincere condolences to you, Greg, Stephanie, Justin, Kelvin and all her family. May God give you strength and peace in the days ahead. I met Becky through BLE in January,2019. We were supports to each other in our BLE journeys and communicated frequently through texts and phone chats. She was always so positive, inspiring and fun to share life experiences with. I imagine her circle of people who felt this way was tremendous and to everyone who knew her, this loss most certainly hits very hard. Our conversations spanned God, family, sewing, quilting, camping and our mission to improve our health. I will miss our long phone chats and tales of her ever growing family that she treasured. I will remember her laugh that always made me smile. May God Bless and keep you my dear and sweet friend, Becky. Rest in peace as you soar with the angels.
