May 15, 2025
With heavy hearts we are sad to announce the passing of Ammorina (Amy) Mary Kulcsar (nee Kuntz) at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, Saskatchewan on May 15, 2025 after a short illness, at the age of 88. Amy was born on a farm near Grayson, Saskatchewan on September 27, 1936.
Amy was predeceased by her husband Henry (Jimmy) Kulcsar; her parents Mathias and Veronica Kuntz; her brothers Tony, Clem, Phillip, Ben, and Pius; and her sisters Betty, Karey, Mary, and Aggie.
Amy is survived by her children Josie (Jack) Boychuk and Cindy (Mike) Latham; her grandchildren James (Sheena) Boychuk, Josh (Katie) Boychuk, and Tyler Latham; and her great-grandchildren Zepha Boychuk, Claire Boychuk, and Carter Boychuk.
Amy was one of ten children and grew up on a farm near Grayson, Saskatchewan. She was a one room schoolteacher in the area. This is where she met the love of her life Henry. She taught his younger brothers and sisters, and Henry would take them to school and pick them up so that he would have a chance to see Amy. They fell in love and were married on October 6, 1958.
After they were married Amy quit teaching, and they moved to Regina. Amy then started working at Sears. They soon had their first child Josie, so Amy quit Sears and became a stay-at-home mom. Later, their second child Cindy was born. Henry had his own business at one time called Henry's Detail Shop, where he cleaned and detailed vehicles and Amy would help at the shop when she could. Years later she returned to Sears where she worked on the 8th floor in the Broad and 4th warehouse. She enjoyed both the work and the people there. Amy was also a trainer for new staff and would handwrite notes for each person she trained. They would ask her if they could copy the notes and she said that they didn't have to because she wrote the notes just for them to keep. She stayed at Sears for 21 years where she finally retired at the age of 67.
Amy was a very talented seamstress. She loved sewing items for babies and made the most beautiful baby quilts. She also made unique purses out of jeans. She enjoyed selling her items at craft sales.
Amy was very kindhearted: for example, at craft sales if someone bought two baby bibs, she would give them four. Or if the total of the sale was $15, she would say $10 is good. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting and had a crochet doily under every nicknack she had in the house.
She enjoyed going on many camping trips, going to Grayson to see family, taking trips down to Minot, and making strudel for Christmas.
Amy especially loved spending time with her grandsons. She did many crafts with them, such as making what she called “dust bunnies” and teaching them how to knit and sew.
Amy was a very pleasant person. The nursing staff at the hospital and the staff at Brightwater Senior Living would always comment on how nice and pleasant she was. She would always ask them “how are you doing?”.
We are all grateful for the loving care by the staff at Brightwater Senior Living who were very kind and caring. We are also grateful to the nurses at the Pasqua Hospital on the 3rd floor in Unit 3B for making the last days for Amy as comfortable as possible, and for being so kind to the family while we were there.
If anyone so wishes, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada in Amy's honour.
At Amy's request, a private family graveside service was held at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Regina, Saskatchewan.
