Killingbeck, Don

July 7, 2025

Don Killingbeck

Don was born in Porcupine Plain, SK. Dad passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025 after a short but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 69 years.

He is survived by his wife Margaret ‘Peggy’; sons Ken (Angela), Donald ‘Mikey’ and daughter Andrea; son-in-law Graham; grandson Brody and granddaughters Tianna (Derick), Kiarya (Isaac), Victoria, Kallie and Alivia; great-grandchildren Ava, Isabella and Tahlia.

Dad met my mom right after turning 18 and was quick to put a ring on it a few short months later. He then married her later that year. His last goal was to be here for their 51st anniversary together on July 6 and he did it.

Dad adopted my older brother Ken before marrying mom, making sure that he knew he was his child and would always love and be there for him.

He worked for the Board of Education in Regina, SK for his entire 42.8-year career until his retirement in January 2019. He worked as a headman at various elementary and high schools for the majority of his time.

Once retired, dad dedicated his time to relaxing with mom and completing an ever-growing hunny do list of house maintenance and beautifully redesigning the yard and gardens. On top of that, he played an almost daily interference of keeping the neighbor away because "she kills my plants every time she touches them."

My dad was one of those dad's that you would never be able to imagine your world without him in it. He was cranky but kind. He gave us kids everything he possibly could; from teaching us how to renovate a house and how to fix our own cars, to waking us up in the middle of the night when we were little to take us out into the country, so we could experience the most beautiful solar storms and cloudless star filled skies. He loved hunting and camping with us kids when we were young and got so excited to experience all of it with us through our eyes.

His love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was unmatched. They all felt his immense love for them and never felt Poppa loved anyone of them any less or any more than the others. Each one of them was a perfect shining star in his eyes.

Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff working in Unit 6F of the Regina General Hospital and the Pallitive Care team at the Regina Pasqua Hospital. Thank you to Troy and Judy for caring for him while sharing room 23. You have all made his final days on this earth a more loving and caring place.

No memorial service will be held. Cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, dad would love for donations to be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Regina or Saskatoon a place very dear to our families’ heart.
