Sellwood, David Leonard

December 4, 2025

David Leonard Sellwood

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Leonard Sellwood, who left us peacefully on December 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

David is survived by his loving wife and soulmate Jackie, his devoted son David Jr., daughter-in-law Amy, and his cherished grandsons Liam, Merik, and Kayl. He is also remembered by his sister Marion, brother-in-law Ray, and their children Michelle and Jeff.

David touched all of us in different ways. Rooted in the foundational beliefs of integrity, trust, and loyalty, he stood up for what he believed in and would walk through walls to protect his family and friends. He had the heart of a lion and the strength of a bull—the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back in -40 below. He often cheered for the underdog and was rarely seen without a Montreal Canadiens hat, Harley Davidson shirt, a toothpick or backwoods cigar in his mouth. If you didn’t see him coming, surely you heard him… known for whistling sweet Dixie or singing an ageless tune by the likes of B.B. King, Aaron Neville, and Elvis Presley. David was one of a kind and loved the simple things.

A natural jokester, David, always had a witty one-liner or an inappropriate joke to share. Whether you laughed or not didn’t matter, his contagious laugh would surely get you to chuckle. He enjoyed ice fishing, walking, tending to his garden, and being outdoors with nature. He loved his wife Jackie and their special fur buddy Jesse James, spending cherished years together at their lake property. David was extremely proud of his family and especially his grandsons, always eager to hear about their accomplishments and sports achievements.

For those who knew him, David wouldn’t want us to be sad. He wouldn’t want tears or for us to worry. Instead, he would ask us to crack a beer, light a cigar, tell a funny joke, toss a log on the fire, wet a line, turn on a country song, or do something nice for a stranger.

On behalf of the family, we extend heartfelt thanks to Danny Koch, David’s good friend and earth angel and his son Peter Koch, friends Al and Mike who helped us through so much and special Godsent friend Donnette Sutherland. We also thank Dr. O Souied, Dr. Holly, Nurse Val, social worker LaRae and many others who supported David during this difficult journey.

A Private Celebration of Life will be held in the Summer of 2026. Flowers gratefully declined. Friend so wishing may make donations in David’s memory to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan or Regina Humane Society.

We lost a good one. Rest easy, Dad.

Love you always.
